Magimahiru Nature Park lies on the boarder of Iwate Prefecture and stretches 25km from north to south. The park consists mostly of primeval beech forest and is abundant in animal life. Reaching up to Mt Yakushi is the picturesque Magi Gorge and Kawaguchi Gorge famous for its numerous scenic waterfalls and is popular with hikers.
